Nice and basic! two wires in, two wires out! i like it! too bad it's a dud. Sad I'm sure Vince can walk you through fixing it if you're willing to open it up. He's a pro at bringing stuff back from the dead. Very Happy He helped me fix a CFL before, but it turns out it was just a loose wire so i put in place with some glue and it's worked ever since!

Yup, I'm Mr. Fix-it! That's probably why I'm into truck mechanics now xD

I have a SOLA rapid start ballast that has the same problem Darren described about his LPS F-Can. A 4 footer wouldn't start at all but I've been able to get a 3ft tube going ONCE, and pretty dimly compared to a properly working ballast. If I remember OCV was around 180V, a bit too low for an F30/F40. At the moment it sits among other defective ballasts in my cousin's old shed full of his own junk (along with mine xD), but I'll get it back this summer, so I'll probably open it up and see what failed in it. Chances are the same part failed in both the LPS F-Can and the SOLA rapid start!

Cool ballast Darren! Never knew a F-can LPS ballast was made
I have a whole pile of 120V motorola ballasts that were killed by energy saver T8s..I really should fix them but don't have the components or knowledge Confused

If you guys ever fix up your ballasts please post some pics, I have a 175w merc ballast that some lamps refuse to fully run up on. I suspect the cap is a bit flaky. I already have a new cap lined up for it but i don't want to mess up the F-Can ballast.
