Glad you like them! Wow only 6000 hours? I wonder what the date of these lamps is. I'm not too good with fluorescent date codes.
lite_lover   [Feb 23, 2014 at 06:38 PM]
Oops, should be 7500 hours + , I'm not sure what the date is either, these must be from the 70's.

ahh. I find it funny how the T8s are rated for 2800 when the T12s seem to always outlast them. It's those horrid electronic IS ballast. Mad

Yeah I was thinking 70s too.

I wonder if the 7500 hr rating is for preheat on trigger start ballasts. Normally lamps last longer when on a trigger start ballast.
streetlight98   [Feb 23, 2014 at 11:33 PM]
Hmm I wonder that too. It's probably a best-situation rating. Like how F32T8s are rated for 28000 hours. Yeah, i don't think so. The full mercury ones MAYBE, but the eco-Crap out there now? Forget it...
joe_347V   [Feb 23, 2014 at 11:58 PM]
And they have to be running on either a programmed start or a rapid start ballast to have any chance at reaching 28000 hoours.

yeah. I wonder if they could invent an IS ballast that start off with a lower OCV and the OCV increases a few seconds after starting. I wonder if that would be enough to help increase life?
