Hmmm Philips already existed in 1982 in Canada? We still had Westinghouse and Noreclo....

Yes they did, they came to Canada in '69 by buying Public Service Lamp Company. Norelco was Philips in the USA because they weren't allowed to use the Philips name due to copyright infringement with the old brand Philco which made TVs and electronics. I have a Philips bulb made in Canada from '76.
