In my opnion GE makes the best dimmable cfls , i've had 3 running outside in fixtures dusk to dawn over 3 years and they all work, after a minute of no motion they dim to 50% , in very cold weather they simply get dimmer , b/c the bottom is open
I have the 15W versions

In my opinion GE makes the best CFLs period LOL. I have three 14W Bug Lite CFLs running dusk-to-dawn for more than two years (one year for the 3rd one though). Despite giving horrible bug repelling performances, they run flawlessly.

You can get yourself a dimmer switch complete with junction box and wire it up with the dimmer and outlet. You got yourself a dimmer box Cool

GE 26W dimmable CFL

I got two of those in clearance for a much more decent price than the original 10$. Since I don't have any incandescent dimmer available, I can't test the dimming preformances of those lamp. On full power they work good.
