GE ballasts!!!!
You see a Powerdoor for GE M-250A1 and another GE ballast on the top....

Both are 100 watt / 150 watt Multitap!

The Powerdoor is June 1976! The ballast on top of the other one is MUCH newer....from 2004!!!! Much Newer but little changes!!!

The size hasn't changed much nor the design....the coils looks pretty much the same size but the iron area is smaller on the newer one...

Mine? Razz
GullWhiz   [Nov 19, 2011 at 04:47 AM]
Which one???
LilCinnamon   [Nov 19, 2011 at 05:45 AM]
That ignitor looks waaaaaay different. Is that a metal ignitor unlike the plastic ones I have in my newer 1980's GE fixtures.

And nice picture! Good way of comparing the ballasts.

Are the slip on connectors messed up on the newer ballast?
GullWhiz   [Nov 19, 2011 at 05:50 AM]
Ignitor is not metal....the board is the same stuff you find in motherboard......and no connector is not messed up...they are in perfect condition.....one of them connects to the middle of winding because that connector is for 150 watt while the other one that's connected to end of winding is for 100 watt......
LilCinnamon   [Nov 19, 2011 at 05:52 AM]
Well it has a metal ENCASING. I guess the older ignitors were designed more like the current AEL's. Now the GE uses plastic and not a board.

Its not encasing...it just holds it...it can slide out......

I wonder what's more reliable: the board, plastic,or the encapsulated ones.

Well THIS one and my McGraw-Edision board ignitor both still works.....I had one McGraw Unidor that didn't work it was due to bad connection on one component on the board....I fixed it LOL!

Does this have a NEMA tag on it?
GullWhiz   [May 02, 2012 at 01:53 AM]
Yep a shiny gold colr
streetlight98   [Sep 27, 2012 at 01:51 AM]
Is the NEMA tag a 150W tag or a 100W tag?
GullWhiz   [Sep 27, 2012 at 02:40 PM]
It had both! A very worn 15 NEMA tag and a very fresh 10 NEMA tag!
streetlight98   [Sep 27, 2012 at 08:32 PM]
Were both attatched at the time you got it or was one stuffed inside? Joe Maurath told me the 80's 100X175W MV GE's came with one sticker on the door and the other was inside the light with the backing still on it in case it was rewired.
GullWhiz   [Sep 27, 2012 at 10:00 PM]
No there was only one ballast....it has a multitap.....both ballasts are multitap......look at discription
streetlight98   [Sep 27, 2012 at 10:58 PM]
I was referring to the nema tag. Confused I know there's only one ballast in this... Maybe you misread my comment? Neutral
GullWhiz   [Sep 28, 2012 at 01:22 AM]
The 15 sticker was over the 10 sticker...the 15 sticker was silver in color because yellow (gold was faded) but the 10 was golden!

Hey Jace, can you post a pic of the outside of the powr/door? Where did you get this? It'd be cool to find a HPS powr/door to convert my M-250A between MV and HPS!
