Crouse Hinds OV-15 Fixture Label.
Here is the label.

Note how on the corner it says "Cooper Industries" My guess is that COOPER bought out Westinghouse. And Crouse Hinds and Line Materials and McGraw Edison were all subsidies of Cooper Industries.

So pretty much Cooper DID exist in 1983-Today, just the logo NOW is much more noticeable and Is now a bigger brand then the subsidies.

So I COULD say my OVH is a Crouse-Hinds OVH as it says "Crouse Hinds" on it.

Crouse-Hinds was pretty much the same as what Streetworks is today. It seems you're right about Cooper Industries buying out Westinghouse... You could also call this a Cooper L-150. o_O

My OV-25 Tudor and OVM ballast say "Cooper Industries" on the labels too. The ballast on the OV-25 Tudor says Westinghouse though.

Yeah I guess basically they all are Coopers.......But funny thing is....if you look at the Cooper Webpage...they have Crouse-Hinds, McGraw-Edison, Lurmark and Streetworks...pretty confusing eh?

I looked on Wikipedia (I know not the best source but SOMETIMES it actually has good information!) and it said the Cooper Industries Bought Crouse Hinds before Cooper bought Westinghouse. But McGraw Edison got bought out later. In the late 1980's or something. So Line Materials and Mcgraw Edison were their own company making their own cobraheads back then. Then Cooper bought that and Mcgraw Edison has been a sub-brand ever since.

Also... Would "8503" be 1985? When were the OVS and OVM introduced? Cause my OVM is from 1986 which is a year after this one.

Yes 1985....OVS came out in 1986....the one I had was from 1987

GullWhiz   [Nov 24, 2011 at 01:13 PM]
I saw the first OVXs around 1990-1992.....so im not sure the exact year.......

Dave D. told me he never saw an OVX until he visit Rhode Island in 1998!!! Shocked
