Newest addition! ITT model 25 FCO.
Found this lying on the ground on the pole waiting to be scrapped, but I rescued it!

When I went to that contractor they said they don't give away lights so I didn't get that Tudor, sorry. D: I wanted it so bad.

But I did explore lots of other places and I found this! I first spotted it driving across I-70... Didn't know exactly what kind of fixture it was cause I was going fast. It kind of looked like a 125 or M-400 R3.. I went back to take a look and was surprised to find an ITT Model 25!

These are very common in Denver, and I am glad I have one now!

It is missing it's flat glass, I will try to fit the M-400 R3 one on this for kicks. If I get a refractor It would be cool to see this thing with the refractor!

Haven't tested it yet, but am going to in a little while.

This marks my 11th full cobrahead in my collection! (not counting the ones I found busted up)

You're probably gonna be the first streetlight collector to build a large collection mainly from fixtures found on the ground! Shocked

What's your secret? I simply NEVER see any streetlights laying on the ground! (Expect a few very rare cases).

I don't have a secret. xD I just get lucky.

I want to know NIALL's secret to how he got SO many fixtures without even PAYING for them! More than half of my collection I had to pay for.

Plus I drive around all the time and look for places. This was found at a construction site. When you see people working on the roads, you are bound to find streetlights. This fixture was found on the ground by the interstate though!

This ain't an ITT. This is more like the later AE version model 25. The only difference being the mid-80s version had the slipfitter plate rather than the individual clamps of the early 80s version, but this is definitely AE.
LilCinnamon   [Oct 18, 2011 at 01:59 AM]
The inside labels say "ITT"though. The ignitor, the photocell, they all say ITT on them. Maybe it's a late model?

This also has two different slipfitter plates, which you said was on the early 80's version.

Very nice! The Model 25 is my favorite cobrahead Smile
NiMo   [Oct 18, 2011 at 02:40 AM]
In that case, it was probably one of the last ITT versions before reverting back to AE. The AE version has a single four bolt slipfitter PLATE rather than separate clamps.

How can I find the date of this light?
NiMo   [Oct 18, 2011 at 03:11 AM]
I don't know about the date code, but I do know about specific versions of this model and approximately when they were made. For starters. the 25 was first offered in silver back around the mid to late 60s. During most of the 1970s, the familiar grey version appeared. The telltale feature was two levelling bolts on the back of the fixture. The late 70s very early 80s eliminated the bolts but still retained the internal latch clip. Soon afterwards, a redesigned housing along with the slot in the nose of the fixture were the features right up until the 125 was introduced. Now, specific to the last versions, again. The ITT version would have separate slipfitter clamps as opposed to the AE version with the one piece plate.

Nice light! It looks so much like mine, it even seems to be missing the paint in the same spots! As for my "secret" I will find out what company is doing work in a area and just phone/email lighting them about the project (ex. road work, traffic signal replacement, lighting upgrades ect.) and try to get some of the lights when they come down. Only once did I even pickup a downed light (a 113) but it was damaged so I kept the parts and scrapped the housing. I have also tried demolition sites but have never been successful with them. Sad

I can date it just contact me.....
LilCinnamon   [Oct 18, 2011 at 06:01 PM]
Heh I see. I should do something like that. Three of my (full) cobraheads were from construction sites, (Model 25, M-400 R3, and My second M-400 R2) They were all taken down in favor of replacements. My 113 was me in the right place at the right time, Finsding an Xcel truck with cobraheads in it and following it. xD M-400 A2, My first M-400 R2, OVZ, were from ebay. My OV-15 and NEMA were from Jace, my unpainted 115 (and the housing and reflector/refractor from M-250 R2) were from Darren, FCO 115 from Graybar for a discount, and M-250 R2 were all from different parts, except for the ballast which I bought on ebay,
GullWhiz   [Oct 18, 2011 at 06:10 PM]
Okay I got the information....it is from September 1983 according to the ignitor...just 1 month older than I am!
streetlight98   [Oct 18, 2011 at 07:27 PM]
I thought the ITT ones said ITT cast into the door.
LilCinnamon   [Oct 18, 2011 at 07:38 PM]
This is a late ITT model I think.. I don't think ITT always had "ITT" cast into the housing, think of the M-400 R2, the GE logo was on it for the first two generations, then they took it completely off, but it was still the same fixture.
streetlight98   [Oct 18, 2011 at 08:34 PM]
Yeah that's true. i wonder why GE took off their logo. and the M-400R2 was two geneations. Wink From the time it was first started to 1997. the secon generation is from 2008- present. just becuase a small change happened, doesn't mean it is a new generation. Confused
LilCinnamon   [Oct 18, 2011 at 09:05 PM]
No there IS three generations. The first one had the grooves and ridges IN the housing, and the GE logo was buldged out like on an M-250 R2.

The second generation they took off the grooves, and the ridges in the housing were gone, the GE logo instead of being cast on to the housing, it was just marked, with permanent ink.

Third Generation the GE logo was taken off all together, and there were a few changes. Like the glass refractor was shallower I think.

Third Generation was the last until GE discontinued them. But then GE re-continued them and they still have the same traits as the 3rd generation M-400 R2.
