Not mine, but this was at the pile of lights, I took the OTHER power pad fixture and just left this one, but I took this picture the time I got the model 25.
The thing is this has a GE ignitor, is this power pad gonna even work right? The GE ignitor won't be compatible with the AE ballast, I bet this ballast migh tbe on it's last legs.
There is no reason that a GE ignitor is "incompatible" they all use the same voltages and wiring. The ballast should be fine, GE even stated that these ignitors can be used on all fixtures, they are universal.
Not according to Jace, he said that the three wire ignitors if they are not used on the right brand ballast can weaken the coils over time. There are differences with the ignitors and can ruin the ballasts. Jace knows this kind of stuff. The ignitor WILL work but who knows for how long...
Three wire ignitors are not all interchangable. Two wire ignitors are though. Of all the crazy standards NEMA has, standardized ignitors isn't one of them. I think having standardized ignitors would be great, but NEMA hasn't stepped in on that.
The igniters we use as replacement are 2 wire but when we get new fixtures they are 3 wire! The 2 wire replacement are nice cause we can use them in any fixture! We get both AE and GE. We use the GE's in pretty much anything except new AE fixtures!
I cant say for sure that is the case with all applications, but from what I have seen and worked with yes the 2 wire can replace any 3 wire, The 3rd wire is simply capped off. The only 2 wires you use are the neutral and the wire going to ballast and lamp.
