Medium voltage insulators.
Two of them are dead end modern insulators used today, which are used very common here in IREA territory, IREA uses 7.2 KV for their medium voltage lines. Xcel energy uses 13 KV so they have more and bigger insulators.

The one on the top is a small porcelain tie tip insulator mainy used for ground wires, Or low voltage.. I think.

These insulators (excluding the porecelain one) Are polymer right?

What is the center made of? It feels like metal but I don't think it is...

It's probably a full polymer rod. And doesn't those porcelain insulators like that one usually support mid-voltage lines? Voltage varies from an area to another, in my area (and throughout Québec as well) the voltage used is 14400V from phase to ground, and 25 000V from phase-to-phase!

And you brought the Little Pony epidemy here! Shocked Shocked

Voltage here in IREA is 7.2 KV according to the people working on the new power lines. Xcel energy in the mountains uses like 15 KV to 20 Not exactly sure what they said. But Xcel uses a higher voltage than IREA. In Denver Xcel uses a lot of different voltages. I can't be sure all of the different ones there. xD

The pole behind my house has three of these insulators that you see in this picture connected onto them. I could get a pic of it now.

I know the dead ends are made by MCLEAN. We use the 25kv versions at work. I'm not sure who makes the insulator but that almost looks like a 4kv insulator. Our voltages in western mass are 13.8kv/7.9kv or 23kv/13.2kv (phase to phase/phase to ground).

Hubbel Power Systems made the insulators seen here in this pic, it says "HPS" on them, not to be confused with High Pressure Sodium. The two BIG insulators I have are made my MCLEAN. Since there is a label on my vig one and it says "MCLEAN" on them. The Tie top insulator in this pic has "LAPP GAMMA" written on it I assume that's the brand, and it's ANSI 55-3.

Do you have any photos of these insulators in service?
LilCinnamon   [Sep 21, 2011 at 01:31 PM]
Which ones? The small ones or the big ones?
Antstar85   [Sep 21, 2011 at 04:19 PM]
The small ones if possible
LilCinnamon   [Sep 21, 2011 at 05:36 PM]
HERE is a pic of small ones in service in my backyard.
