StreetLight #023 - Old MV Parking Lot Lights
A 4 fixture pole with old MV lights in a shopping center parking lot. Instead of having a glass cover on the bottom there is a metal screen/mesh cover. As you can see at some point someone painted them green and that paint is now peeling off. Quite a few of them also have loud buzzing ballasts.

Are those side panels metal or were they suposed to be refractor panels?

I like this style fixture, I've never seen it before , and I really like buzzing Ballasts outdoors Smile

I think the side panels were originally a diffuser/refractor...I's also kind of what I remember from some time ago (I really need to take a good close look, or maybe i'll be in that area at night sometime) Last week when I took this pic, due to time I stopped only briefly just to get the pic LOL)

I've always liked these, and this shopping center is the only place I've seen any like them...I'm not sure when they got painted, but personally I thought it kind or ruined the vintage look...and now with the pealed paint it just looks bad Sad

Edit: I also went back & added location for the Colorado members Smile

are these 400 or 1000 watts?
xmaslightguy   [Aug 11, 2011 at 03:34 AM]
I'm not sure, but they didn't seem massively bright so I'd say probably not 1000w. Is there a way to tell just by looking? (if there was any sorta NEMA tag it got painted over)

Well, the lamp size is very different. A 1000w lamp is huge, BT56. A 400w lamp is BT37, a bit smaller

I'll have to park right next to one next time I'm at that shopping center & try to take a good look right up in it Smile
