Broken 150w Incandescent
When I got up on the ladder to change out this 150 watt incandescent in my garage with my new SBMV, I noticed that it looked kind of loose. So I unscrewed it, and the bulb broke off from the base. I had to use a pair of pliers to get the screw out of the socket. This bulb is probably 15+ years old.

Show me the etch...we may be able to date the lamp! Also I know the loose cement on the lamp base was common 80s GE lamps....

Yup looks like a Canadian GE bulb. GE stopped making 150w and 200w bulbs in Canada last year, btw.

Dave you sure it's Canadian? This member here is from USA.....

It does look like a cement issue, since there is a lot of "grime" on the inside of the screw. I was wrong, it's a Phillips. The etch says "Phillips 200W DuraMax M5 Mexico"
GullWhiz   [Apr 06, 2011 at 08:14 PM]
M5 that means Dec 2005....since it was made in Mexico....so it was up there for only 5 years
gramirez2012   [Apr 06, 2011 at 08:15 PM]
Weird...Seems like it's been up way longer than that. Confused
GullWhiz   [Apr 06, 2011 at 08:23 PM]
M5 could mean 1985 but doubtful because of being made in Mexico....1985 was made in USA still in Westinghouse design! (in fact it may have still had the Westinghouse word or logo on it) so Duramax...newer...meaning 2005...If it was 1995...it would say 5M

Philips transferred all incandescent production to Mexico in 1998. A Philips soft white 150w made in 1985 or 1995 would have the squarish T shape.
