Inside of the American Electric Series 113
Not much going on inside; Nice and simple. You got the 4-bolt fitter, the small half-core 70W HPS ballast, the open-board ignitor, and the terminal block mounted crooked on the ballast. Unfortunately by this time AE was welding the ballast brackets to the ballasts so a ballast replacement would be tricky if this one ever failed. Reactor ballasts don't typically fail before clocking in a LOT of hours though so I'd have to worry about the ignitor before I need to worry about the ballast.

Looks like skimpy electronic circuit construction to me Confused

Their ignitors are pretty junky but there are plenty of AEs from the 80s and 90s still around here today, so they're not that bad.

They also seem to hold up better than GE ignitors from that era. The plug in style AEL use are quite nice too.

Some of these have horrible ballasts too.
