TCT 8" doghouse
Its been a while since I logged in on this site. This is the latest signal to enter my collection, purchased May 2016. A TCT doghouse with 8 inch lenses, custom built using brand new TCT parts.

I bought this off a friend of mine...some may recognize it from the Traffic Signal Museum website. That is because its the same light. I picked it up from him when we met up to go to the signal collector swap meet down in Ohio last month.

Bringing it home I had to swap the arrows to make it a right turn, and partially disassemble it to reroute some wiring.

Its now hanging and operating off my traffic controller cabinet.

Nice! 8" signals are super rare and doghouses were really never used in RI. I do know one intersection that uses a doghouse for whatever reason (once in a while RIDOT installs something way different from the norm, probably to test it out or whatever) but RIDOT's go-to guy was the 12" four section RYG with a bi-color arrow. Those things were used widespread here since probably the 80s or maybe even earlier. The original ones here were halogen with fiberoptics. Some are still in use today. Then they switched to LEDs with the exposed diodes, center row of diodes was yellow and the outer two were green. Then they moved to the "incandescent-like" ones. The fiberoptic ones only have one row of "diodes" shared by both colors. RIDOT was also big on the single-section 12" fiberoptic ped signals too, with the "WALK" being both orange and white, with DONT lighting up with the orange WALK to obviously form DONT WALK. Here's one of the fiberoptic bi-color arrows. When they switched the ball lights to LED they kept the halogen bi-color units. There's only two I know of off-hand anyway, and they're neighboring intersections. Here's the other one I know of, this one was caught lit up (but only from far away) and you can see how dim it is. The green is very drab too. I'd imagine the color card has faded after umpteen years. I absolutely love the fadeout though.
