LOA PL13w/27K
This lamp came as the included lamp in a Lights of America plastic dusk-do-dawn "jar light" type fixture a neighbor gave me (they found it while cleaning their garage out). It's a standard preheat PL13 lamp but runs on an electronic instant-start ballast in that fixture. It's pretty bright too; the fixture now lights my driveway and front porch all night, every night, and it does a pretty decent job for being only 13w.

Oh it's one of those long ones too. Mine was electronic (4-pin) with the two small tubes side-by-side like a "normal" PL. These long PL13s seem less common.

Really? I see them MORE often! Laughing

Hmm I've rarely seen these here. They seem common in those cheapo plastic PL flood lights but never seen one actually in a practical indoor application. How long is this lamp?

I'd say about 8". (Without checking one of my spares). I can post a pic of one next to a ruler or something else recognizable for scale if you want. With a screw-in adapter, they're almost a foot long!

Wow yeah I can't imagine one of these having any practical use as a retrofit lamp lol I think the double tube PL13s are better-suited for that lol. I wonder if the long PLs and double PLs get the same lumens for the same wattage?

I wonder too, along with which came first? The adapters always came supplied with the 'long' lamps. I remember a neighbor's house in Sitka had a bunch of what I now know to be Abco PL-9 adapters, and 22w circline adapters. And lots of 8 foot slimlines, even in living areas. One of my early contacts with fluorescent lighting. Laughing We're still occasionally in contact...I should go up there and visit if I have time this summer.

The long lamps came first IIRC. the long and double lamps are not compatible with each other adapter-wise because they use different sockets. Wow that's a lot of fluorescents!

Oh wow, I didn't know that!
Yeah he was into fluorescents...and a lot of other things...
