Observatory vans in Pawtucket Laughing stop and shop had to remove LEDs Shocked

@traffic light1:
Shocked shocked to hear that.. Did they have to replace with SOX then?
traffic light1   [Sep 04, 2014 at 05:08 PM]
no they put back what they had for now, all over night too. I had to remove my LEDs too Mad, but LPS is way better.
xmaslightguy   [Sep 05, 2014 at 12:41 AM]
Wow. that's pretty quick!

Were your LEDs at home (I'd really be shocked if they bother individual homeowners)? Or do you have a business?
traffic light1   [Sep 05, 2014 at 08:31 PM]
home and at the business. At home the EPA only allows LPS.
xmaslightguy   [Sep 06, 2014 at 01:05 AM]
Wow thats strict! (but I've heard areas near an Observatory can be) One cool thing is that it still gives a market for SOX/LPS Smile
I wonder if you could get by with using something like a ' F40T12/Gold ' fluorescent at home? Or do they actually go around closely inspecting lights?

Nothing near me, so I can use -whatever- .. I bet I'm the only one in the area that even owns a SOX fixture (its not put up though) - sadly that type of lighting is beyond just rare here.

What about at Christmas, can you decorate with outdoor lights? (I'm assuming such things are small/dim enough they don't count....well unless you 'DECORATE' like I've been known to do in the past LOL)
traffic light1   [Sep 06, 2014 at 08:13 PM]
I am close to an Observatory but it is closed / never got working. EPA is wet lands I was told only LPS for every night use, My wide lites can be used because they are for emergencies
xmaslightguy   [Sep 08, 2014 at 01:30 AM]
Interesting. I've heard of Red or Orange lamps being required in outdoor lights for wildlife protection (mostly turtles I think it was?)

Are they protecting Plants? or Animals? in the wetlands ... guess whatever it is can't see 'yellow light' LOL
traffic light1   [Oct 01, 2014 at 09:12 AM]
Owls hate HPS so for them LPS is the best.
xmaslightguy   [Oct 02, 2014 at 01:22 AM]
I would assume that probably means they probably can't see the yellow part of the spectrum that LPS gives off?
traffic light1   [Oct 08, 2014 at 11:55 PM]
yes
