I don't know if it's HPS or MV... I think it's 100W so it's probably MV since this area has mainly 50W HPS lights but this light could be 100W HPS just as likely. I'd have to see it at night...
I think it used to be Mass Electric since Rehoboth and Seekonk were Mass Electric and they're along the RI-MA border too. Nantucket is one of the Islands off the tip of Massachusetts. Was Nantucket Electric a member of the NEES or Western Utilities? If so NGrid owns it now too. That light on Newport Ave in the backgroud is a Cooper OVC, either 50 or 100w HPS... I'll be getting one of these within the next few weeks minus the refractor. It's NOS and 175W MV 120X240V. I payed 80 for it including shipping and a 2ft cantilever mast arm so i think it's a pretty good deal. It's from PA. I have a glass lens that will fit it but it's a bit chipped up but it'll do i guess... Maybe I can come across and older style GE glass refractor for it.
Ahh so the R1 you're getting is a 175w merc. I'm still waiting to see the internals and the date...imagine if it was the same as your M-400 split door.
i'm pretty sure it is. the ballast looks identical to the 175W MV 120/240V GE 60s ballast i have. there's a pic of the inside in the listing you posted in the forum but i'll post the pic here too. The arm looks identical to the AE arm i have already.
Yes Nantucket is part of NGrid. The other big utility in Eastern Mass is NSTAR which used to be Boston Edison and Commonwealth Electric which served the Cape. They Merged in 1999 to become NSTAR. In April of last year, My parent company Northeast Utilities Merged with NSTAR making us one of the largest utilities in the region.
Ahh here 100W MV is pretty much all we have. Most of the 175 and 400W MV lights were replaced in the 90s and most of what was left was removed before the 2010s.
I wonder if the arm you're getting is a GE too.
