Philips PAR-38 dimmable CFL
Found this at Home Depot in summer 2007, this has a dimmable ballast and a tri-tube arrangement rather than the typical spiral. It is true programmed-start and dims to around 50% on a cheap triac dimmer. It is an amalgam lamp and has Alto technology so it always starts pinkish-red but the run-up is pretty fast unless you start it in a dimmed setting. As it is a wet-location-rated lamp, I'm using it in the bathroom exhaust fan where I had a heat lamp before, to save energy as the heat lamp wasn't very effective.

Nice lamp! I think i have seen it on LG before, very good lamp I bet, especially if the exhaust fan still runs then the ballast will stay nice and cool!

Is your bathroom heat light on a dimmer or is this just on a regular light switch? Cool lamp!
For the bathroom it would be cool if it was dimmable AND 6500K!

Yes, it's on a dimmer. There are daylight versions but I already have 5000K fluorescents as the main room light, and I try to have at least two colour temperature options per room to suit my daily mood. Cool

I see...in this room it's cool white and warm white florescent...and three out of five cool white F40T12s are pre-EPACT halophosphate cool white too! Two of which are Norelco lamps! Then there's a warm white GE MainLighter and a Philips F20T12/WW and a few other florescents.
