I found another OV-20 in Springield, MA. The funny thin is this is the next pole from the other OV-20 I have in my gallery and I never knew this one was here till today. I was taking a drive to grab some coffee and happened to notice this light hiding from me all these years. this light still works which is very awsome. I believe this fixture is 400 Watt MV.
This style arm is everywhere here in Cranston. There are still remote ballast cans on the mounting part, so I wouldn't be surprized if these were at the ends of their masts as the OV10 was somewhat common on side streets on a 6ft version of this arm.
This one is an 1-1/4" 8' steel braced upsweep arm. These were made by joslyn. Unfortunately the site is no longer up which showed the mounting brackets they made.
Yep. There were these 8' ones on the major roads and 6' ones on side roads. The 8' ones are everywhere here and most have ballast cans. The 6' ones are kinda hard to come by and do not have ballast cans.
@ michael, I remember these when I visited Rhode Island. The fixtures were typically OV-20s, Form 109s, and teardrops converted to MV. I think a few OV20s are still there.
@ Dave; there were a (very) few of these left until the early 2000's from what Joe maurath told me. I only remember a couple of IB OV10s in Cranston which were replaced by National Grid in 2009-ish by M-250R2s. It seems National Grid will still relamp mercury vapor cobraheads but they won't relamp clamshells.
Hmm. This is just like NGrid here. They replaced a string of 100W MV M-250A2 FCOs and used one 50W HPS and three 100W HPS lights to replace the 100W mercs. They do the same with 400W mercs, using either 400 or 250. Usually they use a lower wattage light though.
