Crunch!
Well it seems this pole has been hit, and it is only a year old. This pole was actually put up during the instillation of the new signals when the old pole was hit as well, this is the second new pole to be hit at this intersection, another was hit in December.

This happens a lot in my area too, you can often see poles with a shiny base section especially the one on the median.

That's a good thing with the MTO type poles, you can replace the bottom section, here the pole will get replaced and scrapped (and it's just a year old) the signal will be reused though.
Update: This pole was replaced yesterday.

Some here do not even last long enough for the crew to come and paint them.

Monday saw a nasty one, but good thing is that the mast base stopped the rolling taxi. Bad thing is it stopped it. Road closed, and bulk ambulances were inbound to scoop and run.

Here the poles aren't painted, just left with the galvanized finish. I've seen some get knocked over, within a few week of them being put up.

I've seen a knockdown where the crew left the old pole next to the sidewalk. It was right before winter so they waited until spring to pick the pole up. Shocked

Here they are always very quick at fixing signal problems, this was fixed the day after I reported it.

They fixed that one right away too but I don't know why they left the old pole and the sign attached to it next to the sidewalk for the winter.
