At this construction site on US 101 in Oxnard, you can see stuff like street lights, traffic signals, and a traffic signal all destined to the boneyard. Also arms and poles being scrapped.
Everyone needs to set limits. If you take any lights like I did when i first started collecting, you won't have any mre room for the good stuff! That's why I'm redirecting my collection towards rare/vintage stuff. I want room for my OV10, OV25, LPS light, and NEMA head.
I agree with setting limits. I prefer to focus on collecting primarily incandescent and mercury vapor lights. For HPS I am only interested in special or unusual types, so I don't really have room for the lights in the pic. BTW they are still there.
Additionally, I don't believe in taking this stuff without permission. Sometimes though, if I find something in a trash can or otherwise abandoned, I will take it. Also, I occasionally rescue fluorescent tubes from recycling bins in places where they don't mind me doing so.
There is an R47 laying on the ground that I know of, it's been there for a few days, I agree you have to set limits on what you will collect, I'm not going to take that light since I already have 3 and it's in a very busy area, if it was somewhere quieter with less traffic then I might consider it but I don't really feel to comfortable about taking lights without permission.
