thanks. These retainers were at one time wrapped in cloth that were loaded with asbestos. The asbestos gaskets are still on the doors. The glass reflector/frame seals were cork which all rotted away. Thats the way they did it in the 1940s.

new gaskets are all rubber correct?...i used to have an old light fixture that hinged open with a cork/asbestos seal.

Yes new gaskets and wiring are neoprene. The old stuff was cloth and cork. The wiring was also cloth.
