I took this with my cell phone so it's probably why I get these black lines in the photo, but anyways, here it is at full brightness. Glad I found a 400 watt lamp!
I didn't notice much difference in the way the ballast sounded but it did sound a little louder than normal, still nothing out of the ordinary. I remember fixing a ITT model 25 that was real loud.
When I had tested the two OVXs, I tested them together and they're identical right down to the loudness of the ballasts. They were bought as a trio according to the sheet that was stuck in one of them in addition to the instructions sheet. I guess one of them made it into service. I wonder where it ended up and if it's still in service...
My OV-15 is oddly loud given the fact that it has a single coil reactor ballast (it's 240V). I mean REALLY loud. The door sits sorta loose because the latch is different than most I've seen, and the refractor is a little loose so that's probably amplifying the ballast's hum. It's 240V though so next time I light it, it'll be on a pole on the property of my future house lol. My little vision is to have a large sized property with several wood poles with an overhead triplex feed. Each light will have a switch on the pole that will switch one of the hots, simply to shut off the light, and there will be a 240V fused disconnect panel in the basement or garage or something that will kill the whole set-up for maintenance or whatnot. Sure I could work on them live but I'd rather not unless I had to lol. Anyway, it's probably not a reality, but a man can dream. Crazily enough, I've been looking around at properties I may someday like to buy. I want an older house with a nice big unfinished basement for a workshop.
