My GE M-250R2 FCO Lit
One of my two latest additions to my street light collection. A nice GE M-250R2. This one was one of the very first M-250R2s ever made, manufactured in October 1985. 70W HPS with a nice metallic NEMA label. Nice solid, well-built fixture. I purchased this from Steve Zalimas, a fellow street light enthusiast (member slz here) this past Monday (6/29/15). Steve was more than generous in providing a few lamps and a couple photocells with this and the M-250A2 FCO as well as an aluminum 6ft upsweep arm that was cut to about 3ft long.

Unlike newer M-250R2s, this one has a LOT of tension on the bail-type latch. It makes a very loud SNAP sound when latched, caused by the latch rather violently smacking against the door into place. A very strong hold though so there is really no chance of this door accidentally unlatching as so common with a lot of the more recent M-250R2s which don't have a lot of tension on the latch.

This light was recently removed from the central Massachusetts municipality it was installed in as part of an LED upgrade. All the paint is nicely worn off the top. If interested in purchasing one of these from Steve, Click here to see his ad on Craigslist. Steve has lots of other awesome stuff up for grabs too, some as-is (but cleaned) and others fully restored and ready-to-install. I picked up these items in person but Steve may be willing to ship, though I can't speak for him so feel free to contact him with any questions about purchasing any lighting stuff from him. Steve's an incredibly nice guy and am glad we were able to meet up briefly.

Neat to see it up and working! Medium or mogul base?

All cobraheads are mogul base unless the lamp is not available in mogul base (and those are still usually mogul base but with a mogul-medium reducer installed in the socket).

Very Nice Smile

Thanks! Smile 1985 was the first year these were made. Unfortunately the newer ones aren't built quite as robust as these 80s ones but I still think GE makes a good light.
