Here is a closeup of one of the holes I drilled out and the new screw for the refractor clip, from the outside of the door. The repair went pretty well. The drill bit kept slipping off the old screw so it started drilling holes off to the side.

Yeah. The holes already went all the way through the door because I could see the ends of the old screws on the outside of the door. That made it a lot easier. If the holes didn't go all the way through I would have had to be very careful not to drill in too far.
