That's definitely odd, I've never seen a clear drop lense in a streetlight before either.

I can't imagine it would give very good light distribution Confused

I have seen them before, I saw them in GE M-250R2s they were exactly the same shape as the squarish GE plastic refractors, but without the ribs and refractors patterns, they use FCO reflectors they were HPS. I found them in MD in Gaithersburg. I know someone who has those same fixtures in the collection except they were MV...

But now they also included in big fixtures, that I didn't know of! Apparently GEs only makes em....since this is a GE fixture too!

Oh I've seen them in M-250R2, M-250A2, M-400A2, and M-400A3. They're seen in some areas of the SF Bay Area.

M-400A2s? I never seen one with those....

what is the Purpose of a Clear Drop Lense?....Since this is a Drop Lense what would this fixture be Categorized as?.....i wouldnt think Semicutoff since its Clear....any ideas?

Also Gailgrove im Not sure what Pattern it gives off...i imagine similar to a Sag lense....maybe not.

By the way this lens may be plastic....because the smaller fixture versions ARE plastic......The sag lens ones are glass though...
Form109   [Apr 18, 2010 at 05:43 AM]
it might be Plastic.....but i doubt it....Plastic is a Horrible idea on High Wattage Fixtures.
GullWhiz   [Apr 18, 2010 at 05:50 AM]
I've seen plastic in use on high wattage for your info!

Yep seen em on M-400A2s in Berkeley, CA. Basically a clear version of the deep polycarbonate refractor that yellows in a year.
