Nice! LOL yeah on the street light stand in my room you can't remove the door either, so i have to install the light with the door hooked onto the top housing but with the light opened up.
Mercuryvapor123   [Jan 16, 2014 at 11:46 PM]
Yea, I was thinking since its so light I could just hang it fully assembled, LoL. Laughing
streetlight98   [Jan 16, 2014 at 11:49 PM]
LOL yeah, leads and all. just slip the arm over the thru-bolt, fasten down the bolt and the lags and when connect the leads!
Mercuryvapor123   [Jan 16, 2014 at 11:54 PM]
Yes sir I may accualy do that, or I could also use the longer arm that came with my Cooper RMA it's simalar but a little longer. You know just to change thins up a little, shot arm rather than a 6 footer or 8 footer. I think it would look cool.
streetlight98   [Jan 16, 2014 at 11:55 PM]
yeah you could do that. I still say you should install the M-250A though. Razz
Mercuryvapor123   [Jan 16, 2014 at 11:58 PM]
Na, I don't have any plans to do that just yet it will problebly just be a part of my collection.
streetlight98   [Jan 17, 2014 at 12:06 AM]
aww. after the OVZ though you should try a 100W merc. With a fresh lamp, 100W MV is actually brighter than you'd think. when my M-250A was outside it lit the yard pretty well. It wasn't as bright as a parking lot but it was definetly well-lit.

I'm planning on visitive Joe Maurath Jr. this summer to see the rest of his collection (4 hours back in 2012 was barely enough to see what was outside. Shocked ) and I plan to buy a silver M-250R with a bad or not-120V ballast so that i can use that 175W MV 120X240V OEM GE M-250R ballast in it. That way I'll have a 175W MV fixture that i can use on the pole outside (my M-250R1 is NOS so I don't want to expose it to the elements and my OV-10, being the tank that it is, is too heavy for my wimpy lightpole set up). I bet 175W MV will give my yard that extra punch of light. the 100W MV lit the yard well enough but I wonder how much a difference 175W will make...

Yea I had a GE M-250R2 100 watt merc up a long time ago it was rather bright in fact it was the first fixture to go on my pole when it was new.
streetlight98   [Jan 17, 2014 at 01:33 AM]
oh wow it was? Another thought popped into my head... Have you ever mounted your Hubbell RM light on the pole? The RMGs were used here in 250W HPS on the freeways in small numbers. I know of only a few...
Mercuryvapor123   [Jan 17, 2014 at 11:19 AM]
No never mounted it at least not yet I still have some refurb to do on it but I do plan on it someday. I would be using a 175 watt MH or a 150 watt HPS ballast with a GE acrylic lens since the lenses for both are identical.
streetlight98   [Jan 17, 2014 at 09:39 PM]
what repairs need to be made to it? I'd personally get the glass lens for it. Hubbell uses metallica NEMA teags for the HPS lamps. They're the only ones who still do. GE stopped using metallica tags in the late 80s. Westie/Cooper used metallic HPS labels and the L-150s and L-250s even used metallic MV tags, which is really cool! Cooper used metallic HPS tags unil shortly after they started using Electromark labels. The first Electromark HPS tags they used were metallic but soon stopped using metallic ones. It seems the Electromark tags are notorious for falling off. I see a lot of older late 90s Cooper lights with no NEMA tags.

I think these actually look better with the AEL/ Lexalite lenses if you're going to use a plastic lens instead of a glass. These used the same glass as the Cooper lights use now. I'm pretty sure it's the Holophane #4252.

If you decide on MH, I can clone a NEMA tag for you. I can clone HPS too but it wouldn't be metallic unless you printed it on a metallic label...
Mercuryvapor123   [Jan 17, 2014 at 11:19 PM]
No repairs just a good sanding, paint and ballast. I realy can't do anything to until the weather is warmer. yea the glass lens would work but I like it with the acrylic better. I don't know where I could find any metalic labels I do have one 10 and a few 20's for HPS.
streetlight98   [Jan 18, 2014 at 01:23 AM]
ahh i see. justa cosmetic facelift... yeah same here. I need to repaint both of my M-400A2s since the paint comes off as powder in your hands but it's too cold. try the lexalite lens. Razz it looks much better than the GE lens.

are the metallic tags you have Electromark ones? I'm on the prowl for a NEMA tag for the OV-15 TuDor that I'm getting from Joe M. It's either 50 or 150W HPS but we think it's 150W so I'm searching for a metallic "15" tag.
Mercuryvapor123   [Jan 18, 2014 at 01:28 AM]
Yes they are Electromark labels. Lexalite? the only Lexalite lens I have is the one like the GE Power Bracket,s but closed bottom. to make my GE M4AC look like a Crimefighter. I don't think it would go well with the Hubbell. Laughing. I put the OVZ on the longer RMA bracket and it doesn't look bad. I'm debating on that or the 6 footer with the under brace.
streetlight98   [Jan 18, 2014 at 01:37 AM]
Lexalite makes the plastic AEL lenses. So a plastic Model 113 or Model 115 lens. They look really good on the RM hubbell lights, though i think the glass looks the best.

hmm. i'd say go for the longer bracket but the shorter bracket might switch things up a bit...

my outdoor light pole uses a 24" 1960s AE bracket (the doors can come off the lights). I also have a 4fy Joslyn arm and two identical 30" aluminum arms that have no name on them. The 30" arms are NOS as far as i can tell. I got the 2ft and 4ft arms from Joe M.
Mercuryvapor123   [Jan 18, 2014 at 01:49 AM]
Yea I'm having difficulty deciding on the longer of the short brackets or the 6 foot w/ under brace. I do want to change thing up a bit though either way it will look pretty sharp. Shoot I'v even been debating on whether or not to put my GE Skygard up on the six footer.
streetlight98   [Jan 18, 2014 at 02:19 AM]
Hmm a NEMA would look weird on a long arm. what about a powr/bracket on your pole? (with no arm of course lol)
Mercuryvapor123   [Jan 18, 2014 at 10:42 AM]
I don't think a nema head looks weird on the long arm I have one up now and I think it looks good, also it would't be a normal nema it would be the GE 201 SA unit head withe the Skygard optic. as for the power bracket aaaah ....I'm not shure not much to look at kinda boring but still very cool.

CPE also uses these arms, except they're bigger.
