GE black light
I was cleaning out my closet today and found my black light I'v had for many years. This is a GENERAL ELECTRIC -F15T8-BLB black light lamp. I used to have a realy big one out of a temp lit roadway sign but it had been broken a long time ago, it was anout 6 feet long with single prongs on each end.

Sounds like it was a 6' (F72T12)slimline then...or maybe an 8' (F96T12) slimline.

I'm not shure could have been, yet it wasn't very slim it was big though.

i don't know why they call the slimlines. they're the same size as a normal tube just with one pin on the end instead of two. IMO instant start F32T8s should be slimlines and the programmed start ones should be bi-pin. that will get rid of the arcing issue, as instant start ballasts only need one wire to each end anyways.

But it's good to have one universal lamp...I like how universal F40T12s are- they even work fine on T8 ballasts (that's how it is in my bathroom light).
Well actually they're F34T12s but I'm sure F40s would work fine too...

6 or 8 ft slimline BLB would be super rare!

BTW, what's the point of slimline lamps in 4ft? are they any more efficient than bi-pin F40T12 lamps? or is it simply that the higher voltage slimline ballast helps the lamp start better in the cold?
A_lights   [Mar 24, 2013 at 11:15 PM]
Yeah they'd start down to 0°F real well,, also the 4ft lamps are 39W ,energy saving ones are 30W ,kmart has 2 altos working in the back room
streetlight98   [Mar 24, 2013 at 11:18 PM]
ahh. are they more expensive than standard F40 fixtures, ballasts, and lamps? Do slimline and HO ballasts have different ballast factors like bi-pin lamps?

Yep they do actually!
