Here is a instant on/off electromagnetic Ripley photocontrol. It has a 1/2 inch cadmium sulfide cell instead of the 1 inch ones that are usually in this type of photocontrol.
Oh wow they still made this style as late as 2000? I thought they went to the current design in the 90s sometime. This style and the tall white ripleys are my all-time favorite style PC! So is this NOS? Lookin good!
Yes its new old stock. I saw these on ebay a few months ago. I think the seller had like 4 of them. They werent too expensive so I bought all of them. I think I have 3 left in their original boxes that I plan on saving for future use. Since it is hard to find ones like these. Ripley's current line of photocontrols are cool too though. My favorite photocontrols that are made today are Sun-Tech, DTL, and ALR. I do like Ripleys, but they are more expensive. I like photocontrols that have the circular cover with a tombstone-shaped window more than any other kind though. The cover design Ripley has is cool but im not a big fan of the design. I dont know if I like the square shaped window either.
i LOVE the square window on these. i love how it's tinted too almost like the PC is wearing sunglasses lol. i have a couple but one doesn't work and the other is very close to being "blind" to light. After these are exposed to the elements the plastic really wears and yellows.
