72w halogen generic bulbs now available!
Ralph's supermarket, owned by kroger, sadly got rid of its incandescent bulbs as of this month. They are restocking on halogen 4 packs as replacements. Heres an everyday living brand with generic 72w halogens made by general electric. The pack cost $5.49.

How did this photo get 38 hits while most other photos stay in the single digits or teens? One other pic I uploaded, the old action tungsrams made in the USA, got well over 100 hits. Shocked

Hi Dave, I was puzzled by the number of hits on my own pictures. I found something funny going on with the first and last pictures of couple of album I have it posted here Confused

Looks like they have the "basic" fake frost finish- with the halogen capsule how glary are these?
Silverliner14B   [Jan 15, 2013 at 12:42 AM]
how glary are they? about the same as a standard fake frost incandescent, just like the GE standard/basic bulbs.

@ Dave; yeah one of Devonte's pics has about 930 views and it had a couple hundred at the beginning of last week... Neutral

I see...
Looks like they're considerably dimmer than a 1750 lumen 100w incandescent...but still cool to see new, more efficient technologies coming out...
streetlight98   [Jan 15, 2013 at 01:33 AM]
Yeah maybe somewhere around 80 watts is more appropriate for a 100W incandescent replacement. Neutral
Silverliner14B   [Jan 15, 2013 at 01:38 AM]
90w equivalent, they are rated at 1490 lumens also.
streetlight98   [Jan 15, 2013 at 01:45 AM]
Oh wow the 90W lamps are a lot less efficient than the 100W lamps. Shocked I thought the reduced wattage lamps were relatively close in lumen ratings to the standard lamps. Neutral

I thought they were on par with the full wattage ones (California type reduced wattage incandescents that is) but not LESS efficent Shocked That doesn't make any sense at all! Laughing
But then again it might be to make the consumer read the lumen ratings on the packages and think incandescents are even LESS efficient and thus use more efficient technologies like these halogens, CFLs, LED, etc.

Well my utilitech 7.5W LEDs in my room are rated at 460 lumens but they're about the same brightness as a 60W incandescent. I just hope that the 460 lumens isn't the average lumens when these things start to dim... Confused I guess they rate the lumens lower becuase they want you to buy the next wattage up (which is more expenisve).
