Looks like it has a frosted lamp installed.

Maybe it's a Mercury Vapor bulb in there. Last week when I was on the MBTA Blue Line, I saw one of them dayburning out the window while I was on said subway, I guess it was Mercury Vapor with the wrong colored nematag. If it's dayburning again, I'll get off the Blue Line at the nearest station and go after it. I should've done that the last time I saw it dayburning. I didn't think of it 'cause I was afraid it was going to be the non-power door version like I've already found in Boston.

This is a wild possiblity, but if the neighboring lights are MV, they may have bypassed the ingitor and put in a merc lamp. That will work though it's not ideal. It's a big chance that GE put the wrong label on the tag though. Nice catch especially if its a merc! Though a coated HPS lamp is a nice catch too!

It could be HPS ballast with a merc lamp in it and can work....

Weird. I thought HPS ballasts could only support HPS bulbs.

Yeah ComEd in Gil's area still install 400W mercs! They're actually HPS M-400As like above but the ignitor (at least i hope so) is removed. I honestly wouldn't recommend doing it but if a utility company does it they must've tested it out. Neutral
