how bright is it? im thinking about buying one

stop thinking about buying one and buy it already, you've been thinking like almost year already LOL
They are not bright like a regular LED, but they do a good job getting attention though....it doesn't get very hot at a long time operation but kinda warm though. It is bright enough to make shadows on the wall and it obviously makes light, so it is reasonable in brightness....but you'll probably be able to fall asleep with it on...LOL

Becareful, the white dome is real glass...mine broke, but it still works!

What's in there to yellow the plastic? Just red, green and blue LEDs.
