When the "all glass" GE CFLs became available at Target, I bought one and accidently scratched some of the coating off after its first use. That's when I realized the "frost" was actually like a label that could be peeled off. As these are assembled in two sections, I stopped when I got to the seam and thought it looked cool like this. This allows nice examination of the electronics.
that cool, but those CFl lamp really sucks. starts out really dim. i have not tried the one with the halogen lamp inside of one while the lamp i warming up.
They use the amalgam technology so the top starts off pink & very dim. I have one of the halogen-hybrid lamps too, which noticeably dims after about a minute when the halogen lamp turns off.
