The coating on this lamp also acts as a semi-reflector, so the lamp probably gives more light than a fully coated one.

These lamps were intended to be used in high-bay luminaires; the fluorescent coating is located on the side of the reflector so as to provide some degree of color correction while enabling the projection of the mercury arc far and wide.
