StreetLight #371 - Replacement HPS!
Back in March, I posted this pic #demo08 of a streetlight downed during a snow/wind storm.

On April 19th (just over a month later) a new pole was installed - drove by that morning & a truck was there at that time with the new pole on it. (also got lucky & there was a bird (crow) on the arm..it left right after I took the pic).

I was surprised to see a HPS fixture! I truly figured it would be LED, since allot of HPS has been changed out for LED on the main roads in that area (neighborhoods are still all HPS).

Also note the re-used arm.
And the attached wire, which goes back to the next pole (see linked pic)
Its low enough that the tree mentioned there could have gotten it.

Reused arm? That thing is brand new. Smile I like tapered elliptical arms but don't like this brand (whatever it is). The Po-co here used these in the 80s in 6ft and I don't like the visible weld marks. The ones they used here in the 60s and 70s are completely seamless and look great.

Wow nice. Hopefully it stays up for a while. It sadly doesn't seem to be too uncommon for a new HPS light to be installed only to be scrapped and replaced with an LED a few months later. Sad

@Mike:
When I first saw it (from the other side), it looked like it had paint that was all blotchy - very much like a used part...but must have just been the angle the sun was hitting it, because when I saw it again on another day, yep it was obviously new.

@ZarlogH46:
I'm hopeing so too! Be a real shame to see a new fixture replaced for no reason in a short amount of time.
Maybe they're considering it a neighborhood light since its at the entrance to a neighborhood (even though its clearly on the main road)..As far as I know there's no plans to convert neighborhoods in that area.

It's uncorperated Jefferson County, though only a few blocks from the Jefferson/Arapahoe county line. But I have seen some roads like Bowles in between Wadsworth and 4-70 get thier davits replaced with LED's, seems to be a hit and miss cause Wadworth in between well 285 all the way, all those davits still have HPS lighting on them, the same ones that have been there for ages. The traffic signals though have LED's though, they replace the ones on that new signal on Bowles and Wadsworth, so I dunno if they plan to replace them, some cities haven't done a mass changout like Lakewood or Thortnon, others have completly changed them out, like Arvada, Broomfield, Wheat Ridge... Then you have the towns like the one I live in (Longmont) that has completly changed out some streets and left other streets untouched except for the few that have recently been replaced.

@Lil'Cinnamon: Yep unincorporated Jefferson County. I believe its just one block east that is Arapahoe county (I'd have to look forsure, the county-line is pretty obvious at that particular spot).

I think the rest of Coalmine headed west is all LED now. And like you say there's allot of difference between the various cities/towns.

Littleton has changed out all their cobraheads (with exceptions of scattered random ones that I guess they missed.) And I saw an article in the paper a few weeks ago that Denver is planning to do a full changeout.
