What is the purpose of the one facing towards the sky? Some sort of flag light maybe? And I'd say these are 400 watt MH looking at the lamp. Wink

Maybe it's lighting the facade of a building. That's done here occasionally to light up banners/signs on the fronts of stores. Though here the poles are generally taller then the building so the floodlight aims down.

This is in a church parking lot, the one facing upwards is pointed at the building (where the cross is).
I'm pretty sure they were 400w, but don't remember for sure. (just need to drive by there again sometime & verify LOL)

Update: there is a chance these will be going away at some point. The church where they are at may be sold, then demo'ed, and the land re-developed. (that will all depend on in big part if the county approves re-zoning the property.)
