Form 402 socket extension for wattage reduction
This fixture is a unique Form 400 with an extended neck and recessed socket designed for 700w-1000w mercury lamps. However, that's too much power for my display, so this fixture has a socket extender and a 175w Feit lamp installed to give the look of a dimmed-out/greened out lamp. Ballast box is mounted to the wood pole. This really could use TWO socket extenders to get the BT-28 lamp centered properly in the reflector.

Later Form 402s employed the correct size housing and glass for the large lamps. The glass was later used on the M-1000.

Is this one of those diffused, non /DX Feit lamps?

That's a Feit, so yep, diffuse coating.

I've got a couple of the ED28 version. Decent lamps actually it seems. They sell those things at Sentry Hardware for like 8 bucks, well worth it.

I have a 80w ED23 version somewhere. They used to sell them at Lowe's for 8 bucks. Unfortunately Lowe's stopped carrying most HID lamps so I have to go to a lighting store to buy most sizes. I think the only one they still sell is a 70w HPS.

Nice that you scored one of those early 402's. One of my favorites.

Thanks! I believe this one came from California...got it from a friend. The Form 400 is one of my favorites and the 402 is just is a little more unique!

Up until 2008 they lined Santa Monica Blvd. right around the corner from Main St. which had OV-35's. Santa Monica was a big fan of the 700 watt whiteway luminaries. I kinda miss not seeing any of them anymore since the junk LED changeout.
