is the Top Section of the Fixture the Same Size as an OV-25?
GullWhiz   [Jan 28, 2010 at 07:32 AM]
same length but narrower....i own one
Silverliner14B   [Jan 28, 2010 at 03:34 PM]
These fixtures are also HEAVY! I own one too so I know this LOL.
Form109   [Jun 09, 2010 at 06:58 PM]
is the OV-14B the Predecessor to the OV-15?...or were they Introduced at the same time with the OV-14B Being Discontinued much Earlier?
mercuryvaporrocks   [Jun 09, 2010 at 07:56 PM]
Wow! I haven't even seen these in my area even except for the Westinghouse OV-12's.
Silverliner14B   [Jun 09, 2010 at 10:00 PM]
The OV-14B predated both the OV-12 and OV-15, however they were made in Canada longer than in the USA.
GullWhiz   [Jun 10, 2010 at 03:50 AM]
Yeah, I have one too...both mine and Dave's dates to 1957.....There was three of them in service near me just roughly 5 miles away from me....until recently...now there is only 2 of them left near me....one disappeared, replaced with a GE M-250R2 HPS with sag lens...I wonder what happened......hopefully a case of a hungry lineman collector
....

those OV-14B are pretty much the VERY first low wattage cobraheads ever made!
Form109   [Jun 10, 2010 at 03:54 AM]
Jace you say your has a Monsterous Ballast in it...does Dave's have that Huge Ballast too?
GullWhiz   [Jun 10, 2010 at 04:02 AM]
yep same ballast....in fact it came from me and my friend...we both gave it to Dave
Silverliner14B   [Jun 10, 2010 at 04:12 AM]
Ours don't have PC sockets, otherwise they are like this one.
GullWhiz   [Jun 10, 2010 at 04:14 AM]
While I had 3 of them in my house.....one of them had slightly different design....such as different bolts, and the "Westinghouse Type OV-14B" had a different style font....

UPDATE: I saw this OV14B lit up last night. Still works, but it will need a new bulb before long, the /DX mercury bulb is slightly dimmed. Appears to be 175w just like mine. Fortunately Progress Energy Florida appears to still maintain mercs, even though they are relatively few in number.

Cool find, you should post a picture of your collection Very Happy
LilCinnamon   [Nov 25, 2011 at 10:34 PM]
This actually looks like it has a Cooper Plastic Refractor, so yeah it is still maintained. xD
Silverliner14B   [Nov 25, 2011 at 10:37 PM]
No, a Copper refractor will not fit, this shares an unique design with the OV-10 and OV-12.
streetlight98   [Nov 26, 2011 at 01:58 AM]
Yep. This is a glass lens identical to my OV10's lens. Very small optical system, but a ED37 lamp can be crammed in there...
Silverliner14B   [Jun 03, 2015 at 12:00 AM]
NEWS: I'm in Florida as I type this. It's still there!
streetlight98   [Jun 03, 2015 at 12:16 AM]
Sweet! Unfortunately, I've noticed some OV-10IBs start disappearing, falling to 100W HPS M-250R2s as the 175W MV lamps dim out.
Silverliner14B   [Jun 03, 2015 at 06:03 PM]
Thats a bummer really. Here in the sunshine state, I'm seeing lots of those square concrete poles you talked about, lol.

Is this OV-14B still there? What city is it in? I live in the Fort Myers area.
