Defective Feit Electric Halogen Crystal Clear 100 Watts
Last Friday (2011-12-30) the bulb in my bedroom burned out and I replaced this bulb as shown outside of the package at Feit Electric Halogen Crystal Clear 100 Watts. The next day I left the light on all day. By the evening, I noticed the light is not as bright as it should be. I took a closer look at this bulb and found deposit at the surface of the quartz tube.

I re-replaced with another Feit Halogen bulb that was sealed in the package. To date, it has not darked the bulb.

I have a theory that the quartz somehow have been contaminated with moisture or not enough halogen filled.

I am open to suggestion for this failure.

I had a 500 watt halogen work light fail on me today, the lamp didn't even have 10 hours on it. Mad Rolling Eyes

Rolling Eyes Was it one of those cheapo lamps that came with the light.

Yeah, I didn't expect it to last any time to be honest, one of the bases crumbled into pieces as I removed it. I didn't have any 500 watt lamps so I put in a 300 watt lamp I had laying around for now.

Looks like the tube might have water or impurities. What would you expect from a Chinese make! Laughing

I once bought a small GE quartz flood lamp that I put in a variac powered lamp. I had it running dim as a night light and a day or two later I noticed it was dead...the quartz tube inside had shattered into a million pieces.

It looks like a MV arctube with mercury in the walls. Very Happy
