Eagle Flatback cluster and Darley 4 way
Came across these two at another antique mall. The cluster uses Eagle Flatback 12-8-8 heads with Eagle poly lenses instead of the glass Kopp 88A lenses. Not sure if the Darley is a older 3 bulb or a 12 bulb model. The lenses are a mix of the Darley orange peel lenses and Crouse Hinds smiley lenses.

They wanted 650 for the cluster and 950 for the Darley.

yeah those are never going to sell... Some people have no sense of money management whatsoever when it somes to buying or selling, so who knows, maybe it will sell...

Yeah antique "malls" or "Emporiums" can be really expensive! I was in one in Morro Bay, CA (Which was lit by a bunch of 2XF96T12 striplights; a rare sight nowadays) that had insulators for like $16! (For a common-as-a-GE-Mainlighter Hemingray 42!) Shocked Granted, I'm used to finding them for free or at thrift stores or yardsales for MUCH less)

My grandparents bought me five insulators at a fleamarket for 15 bucks total! A really nice variety too!

Flea markets and rumage sales are great! When I still lived in CA part-time my mom and I would be driving around all the time to yardsales and searching for ads for them! I also love ReStore, I go there whenever I'm in that area.

I haven't been to a ReStore since July. I don't have the cash right now and it's probably for the better that I don't go for a while since I don't have the room, though I've been saying that for years and yet I bring more stuff home and eventually find a home for it lol.

Yeah I'd say around 600 is probably reasonable for the Darley and the cluster can probably get around 400. Even though it's slightly overpriced, I'm gonna bet someone will still buy both at that price.

Over here flea markets usually sell sketchy used electronics and yard sales sell household used items made within the last ten years so both aren't on my radar when I go light hunting.

I've found many lighting items at yardsales! I'm always hunting for a vintage tuner/amplifier...My dad likes them too and wants to find a Sansui 2000-A so I'm keeping an eye out for both of us.
ReStore is jackpot for lighting though IMO...if I want to go light hunting that day I'll go there if there's one nearby. Or any resale store usually...

It also depends on the area, over here it seems old baby clothes, toys and general household items like that are what's sold.

I found half a case of NOS full mercury Philips Econ-o-watt lamps from sometime in the 90s or late 80s but I didn't buy them because they're 34W... They were cool white BTW. Other than that I've never really seen anything that caught my attention at a thrift store other than a ReStore, which always seems to have stuff. Cool
Model25FanForever   [Sep 07, 2014 at 10:51 AM]
Yeah seems like a rip off IMO. Did we ever use Eagle flatbacks in the GTA?
joe_347V   [Sep 08, 2014 at 02:27 AM]
Yeah, we had a couple at the 427 and Burnhamthorpe until a few years ago. I believe Dundas and McCaul also had Eagle Flatbacks too.

Sometimes, Mike, if a collector wants a desired item and it costs an arm and a leg, then it is likely the individual would make a sacrifice. I was once in this situation, and it was worth it to me.

Like practically any other hobby, this one in particular (collecting signals) is sometimes an expensive hobby. If you have the money to buy valuable signals you greatly desire, then kudos to you.

As far as I am concerned, I generally try to watch how much I pay when I purchase a signal.
joe_347V   [Sep 14, 2014 at 08:34 AM]
Same here, I generally try to pay $150 or less when buying a signal unless it's something special like a old and rare piece or a 4 way.

@Joe_347v If those are the flatbacks, then they still do exist They are just up the road. I've always known they were there but I thought they were CGE's for a long time lol

Surprise! Both of these are still there as of December 2014. Prices are still the same too. Rolling Eyes

If their goal is to see how long these can sit there, they're doing a great job. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Is the Darley one made by the same company that used to make sirens?
joe_347V   [Apr 09, 2017 at 12:15 AM]
Seems like it was.

The antique mall has since moved, but when I visited in August, the Eagle cluster was still there. Laughing Rolling Eyes
