NGrid Install
Here's some more M-250R2s on a typical NGrid (Formerly Niagara Mohawk) installation in the Buffalo area. It seems NGrid has some sort of deal with GE for them as I've seen them used almost everywhere there too. :P On the other hand, M-250R2 are fairly rare back in Ontario, the land of Powerlites lol.

Note the 1kW HPS AEL 327 PAL light too.

yep NGrid has/had a deal with GE since they crossed the pond from the UK in the mid-to-late 90s. it seems for 250w fixtures they're using coopers though. did you see any there? interesting that they used AEL 327s for a leased light, unless it was installed before the Grid took over. i figured they would have used an OVL since cooper is their second-in-line for street lights.

I saw some OVMs, OVXs and some OVZs but they looked like they were an older install. The AEL 327 seems quite common there as a lease light. I saw at least three there, all 1kW HPS.

Over here GE isn't very common since the utilities and contractors usually prefer AEL or Cooper.

yeah the OVXs and OVZs are probably from the early-to-mid 2000s when NGrid switched to cooper for a couple years since they were unpleased with the quality of GEs newly made in china lights. when Florida Power, GE's largest buyer, cancelled their deal according to Joe M, GE moved back to the states and resumed its deals with its two largest consumers. The OVMs must have been what the previous utility used. here the OVM and OVS were only used on freeways oddly enough. The OVC was the only one used on wood poles.

southern california edison is also a GE loyal but around 2002 they bought a few coopers also. prolly the same reason.

I know some rural areas here with a lot of GEs but most big cities tend to use AEL and Cooper here.

I know MTO also used to use GE a lot from the mid 90s to the mid-late 2000s. Now they use AEL or Cooper like everyone else.

Orchard Park Rd. in OP is NYSEG territory.
