Score for today
Was at a DC and they were converting high bays from 400W MV to 250W MH, by taking the huge pile of dead fixtures and loading them into a van to go away for conversion. At least the ballast boxes and reflectors will come back, the damaged will be scrapped along with the 400W ballasts. Could only get a sort though the lamps though, all 400W with most being "Phillips/Osram made with German technology" ( no country of manufacture so guess where, most were less than 5 years old though) and I was not intersted in those, but took the SA made and the one UK made lamp ( though it has a loose connector).

What would your reaction be if you came to a BT shaped lamp?

Yep the ones marked German Engineering are Chinese, or PRC as it is known overseas. Are there anymore bulb factories in South Africa?

Not any more, they all were closed in the early 1990's due to changing circumstances.
