nice work! i'd like to mount one of my highbays inside but they're too tall to mount indoors with standard height ceilings.

Nice rig Smile I don't see the ignitor Confused

Nice, I'm guessing the ignitor is under the aluminium plate.

MIke, I've seen a place with highbays mounted on something like a 9' ceiling Shocked , pics to come when I get home.

Took the ignitor off for use with 50W MV.the socket is plastic and wiring isn't really suitable for high voltage

Ahh, I see. I wonder how 75w merc lamps run on these, I have one and I still need to find a ballast for it.
A_lights   [Oct 06, 2013 at 07:43 PM]
Seems to run about the same actually they both take 4 mins or so to warm up

nice retro fit but a 50W MH lamp runs at 90V 0.8A a 50W mercury lamp 95V 0.6A it wood be best to run a 80W or 75W mercury lamp off this ballast for 50W mercs get a 35W MH ballast for best resolts Cool
A_lights   [Oct 06, 2013 at 08:51 PM]
Yeah the thing is this ballast is rated .7A max and the the 50W MV is probably only overpowered by 50mA after you account for ballast losses

my M-250R1 has a plastic socket and it's HPS so the igniter pulse wouldn't harm it. The igniter pulse is very quick and breif. I think pulse rated sockets are more so the push of the pulse doesn't loosen the lamp over time.
joe_347V   [Oct 06, 2013 at 11:36 PM]
Yeah, I used to run low wattage HPS and MH lamps all the time using regular ceramic sockets instead of the pulse rated ones. Looks like I'll have to get my hands on a 50w MH core and coil ballast then. I have a 50w MH recessed light but it uses a F-Can ballast so I can't disable the built in ignitor.

if it draws 0.7A from 120V mains then thats difrent its saying how meny amps it draws from the mains not how much how much it puts in to the lamp (most US ballasts i have seen are labeled like this like .8A 2 lamp F40 ballasts etc) but if it indecats that it puts .7A in to the lamp then i gess u can get away with it (my 175W US mercury HX ballast makes no indecation of lamp current)

Total wattage is 61.5W

Running a 50w MH or a MV lamp? If they run 50w merc lamps at rated current, I might have to get one for mine.

Running 50W MV
