Well.. This isn't going to end well...
Whelp, drove past this today, I kinda wonder how this happened. The reflector was on the ground, I never did end up touching it, I just left everything where they are. It seems this area is prone to lights falling off, I have no idea why. A long time ago across the SAME ROAD I found a headless light and the light was on the ground, I did take that light and I had it for a long time so.. Hmm.. I wonder why that's a common thing around here...

I just wonder if that light will eventually snap then hit someone... This needs to be dealt with.

It won't be long before the cable would give away if the wind continues to swing a while Confused

Wouldn't want to be driving under that when it let loose Shocked

Depending where this is, it could easily be the wind shaking poles (with lights that were never fully tightened down)....

This is close to where you live @Xmaslightguy, it's behind the Lowes on Belleview Ave near the intersection of Belleview and Wadsworth.

This light appears to be victim of vibration (from a car hitting the pole). If you over-tighten the bolts, the cast aluminum housing will crack around the slipfitter like what you see above if the pole is hit. This appears to be a steel pole, so if the pole doesn't have a breakaway base, it's not going to fall unless it was hit by an 18-wheeler or dump truck. Laughing

I'm surprised the fixture is still hanging from the wires. The wires themselves are plenty strong to hold the light but normally when this happens (around here at least) the wires yank right out of the terminal block or the terminal block breaks off the light and the fixture connections to the block pull off the block (since the factory connections are all slip-on spade connections). Then all you're left with is danging wires connected to a terminal bock with the rest of the fixture on the ground lol. Honestly that's probably the best scenario since if the supply wires are still on the terminal block, they won't be able to move around and touch each other (though if that does happen, the metal pole lights should all be individually fused; wood pole lights generally are not fused though).

@Lil'Cinnamon:
I was just at that Lowes on wednesday .. LOL (even came in from behind - but from the other direction)
Might be back by there this weekend - or if not, I'll be by the day after Christmas...

Can easily get some pretty good winds through that area - 80+ mph, but there hasn't been anything lately.

@streetlight98:
Yep steel poles there.
Depending when he took this, that could be the explanation...
We did get a little snow & the roads (especially side streets) were pretty icy/snowy thursday morning

@Lil'Cinnamon/@streetlight98:
I stopped by the Lowes near it today to check out their Christmas Clearance, then went back & found this one Smile
Your theory is correct...that is clearly what happened Laughing

The light is gone now too, but the pole remains updated pic

I was by this last Friday... The dented & leaning pole is still there, with no light on it.

It's been that way for a while, I've driven past this only 30 times since I took this picture, there are other lights that are stilll missing, and there was a couple poles that were knocked down a while back that have been still laying on the ground, one of them had the LED light fixture on the ground busted for a good month before the light finally disappeared, but the pole is still on the ground and nothing was put back up, this one is at a traffic signal but it's one of the stand alone poles that didn't have anything on it but the pole and the arm and the streetlight.

Wow, sounds like a lack of service, and maintenance!
xmaslightguy   [Mar 07, 2019 at 12:44 AM]
@Lil'Cinnamon:
30 times? wow...I believe Friday was the first time I've been by there since my previous post in Dec 2017 Laughing

There've been other locations where I've seen poles lay on the ground for a long time. Though whenever I've seen one, the light has always been gone...
xmaslightguy   [Aug 17, 2019 at 08:13 PM]
This has been replaced by a GE Evolve.
traffic light1   [Aug 18, 2019 at 01:11 AM]
I like GE Evolve Does anyone else ?
xmaslightguy   [Aug 26, 2019 at 03:41 AM]
@traffic light1: I like the look of the GE Evolve fixture, and the color the 3000k version's light ... but in general, some of those Evolve's are real glarebombs, which I'm not a fan of Laughing
