Osram Powerball 150 watt CMH
I got this nice lamp from Max! It is a nifty thing here. This lamp has to be covered with some UV protection in use as it emits UV. I have not powered this up as I don't REALLY have a proper ballast. The two closest ballasts I can think of is my 100 watt MH pulse start ballast OR the 175 watt ballast MV (say tuned about the 175 watt ballast MV)

The getter had broken off the frame from shipping...oh well

Bit of a problem if burned base down. Best burn it base up so the getter piece stay away from the two leads near the base. Or it will short out. I have seen one of these around ebay. Very rare in the US and very pricey elsewhere.

Yeah you are right...but I'm sure it will do good on base sideways!

I do not see these as much pricey - i would guess reasonable price here (about CZK800..1000, so Eur30..35, include VAT and shop rebate of course; at discount i bought them at ~CZK600)

This lamps like all 2 pin single ended compact MHs of this size are used in Israel for example in mini floods in malls and in submerged ceiling fixture. Some of the lamps will be burn at an angle but these lamps like this CMH has an universal burning position. Reminder: Universal CWA american quartz MH with MV shaped arctubes actually dosn't have an universal burning position. They should be operated in vertical or horizontal position but not at an angle.

Hi Jace - with all these years I came to forget that I ever sent you one of these; glad to see that you like it. The fact that the getter broke off the frame really came as a surprise to me, this lamp must have be handled very roughly on its way to you!
If you succed to operate it you'll see that this lamp gives a very pleasing warm white color.
