Wow that's pretty interesting, I have the same fixture in my shed, did not picture it ever being mounted on downrods like that!

They kinda look like they have egg crate style louvers on the bottom.

Kind of a late reply, but the fixture on the left has an 8ft lamp. Note how the socket is thicker on the right and there is no socket visible at all toward the center of the fixture.

Yeah I see it too, I think older school fixtures were commonly 8ft slimlines too.
