My Cooper OVZ is Now Complete!
|
Here's my 2013 Cooper OVZ from Providence with its new door and glass from Worcester, MA. You'd never know the door wasn't original. But there's actually parts from three different fixtures here! The door is from another Cooper OVZ (obviously, as my OVZ's door was busted). But the glass and NEMA tag are from ANOTHER fixture: a 250W HPS OVX. I borrowed the NEMA tag and glass from the OVX and stuck them on the other OVZ door, which was 50W HPS, and voila! A completed OVZ!

Interestingly this round glass has no markings whatsoever on it. Not on the rim and not on the front. The square glass has Holophane's model number but no logo.
NGrid only uses the OVZ for 250W HPS and the OVX for 400W HPS but yeah, some have this round glass and some have the square glass. For less than 250W NGrid is still using GE lights. Haven't seen any recent NGrid lights though because my city and the surrounding ones are going LED so they own their own lights now.
The newer GEs are unfortunately not what they used to be. I think NGrid stopped using them in 250W and 400W because the darn capacitors crap out in the wink of an eye. Yeah AEL has a monopoly going lol. The only one left to make a 1000W cobrahead. And I'm betting it won't be around for a super long time either.
