now that's real neat....reminds me of that 1 Buck recessed fixture I picked up at a flea market,i then stuck both a 175 W GE DX MV Lamp & a 175W Sylvania MH Lamp in it.
Nice! I just got a 2x4 18-cell parabolic Lithonia troffer from school today. There were two in one spot left over from the rennovations to the votech building. One was missing the egg crate piece and ballast channel so i took the sockets, lamps, and ballast. Then I found another, also missing the parabolic egg crate. I'll grab the ballast, lamps, and sockets from that too.
The only bad thing is that the fixture is too shallow for T12 lamps so it's gotta stay T8. It's only a few years old. The lamps are all SP3500 GE EcoLux 32W lamps.
LOL I'm one step ahaed of you. I tied some 12AWG wire to the ends and suspended the troffer in the laundry room. Only temporary though. It'll go out to the garage next when i paint Joe's light.
The 1950s longjohn preheater with the large reflector from my aunt and uncles basement is taken down and laying on the couch for now and the parabolic Lithonia troffer is the only light in there (the F30 undercabinet light on the wall is shut off since it's not needed with the extra lamp in the parabolic fixture). In the garage is the Cooper Metalux turret and the ratty fixture that I'm going to make all nice-nice and give to Joe. Yep Joe's light replaced the western electric light and the Lithonia troffer will replace Joe's light in a few days or so.
The Lithonia troffer was in use in the hallway of my Votech building so it's cool to have one. There was a total of i think four parabolic troffers and only two had the parabolic crates (one being mine, the other must hve gotten tossed). One of them was missing the ballast cover too so i took the ballast lamps and sockets and tossed the shell in the dumpster. The other one with no diffuser is still there tucked away. i actually forgot all about it. I'll grab the ballast and sockets tomorrow and keep the lamps safe in our workshop until i can have my mom pick me up again. There was also a regular lensed 2X4 troffer but i think it got tossed. There was also a brand new 2X2 two-lamp T5 decorative Lithonia troffer in the sealed box but I was told another kid in Level 3 construction took it home. (level 1 is me, sophomores, level 2 is juniors, and level 3 is seniors). There are also some wrap fixture lenses but I'm not interested in those really...
Remember the undercabinet lights from which i took the starters and the /WW GE F15 lamp? Well today i busted them open and took the ballasts, sockets, and starter sockets. One had a push-button switch which i also took. So i made out like a bandit today. Oh and lastly I got a F40T12 lamp that's labeled as 6500K but it appears to be an enhanced spectrum lamp (probably from aquaculture). Next to a /D lamp it looks purplish.
So i got a Sylvania 3X F32 IS ballast with shunted sockets, two FS-2 chokes, two starter sockets, four standard bi-pin sockets, three GE 3500K 32W Eco lamps, a 2X4 parabolic Lithonia troffer complete with 3 GE 3500K lamps, and I hope to get another three lamps and a 3X Sylvania ballast tomorrow. The 3X ballasts also run two lamps as well.
the laundry room preheater will go back in the laundry room. the Lehrolite fixture for Joe will come down and the parabolic troffer will go up in it's place. the reason I didn't put the parabolic in the garage to begin with is that the car is in there. I'll have to wait until the car isn't in there.
Good luck! I still need to paint my Sears shoplight sometime...and possibly change out the ballast if I find a new one.
