Hmm seems like the one on the left has a smaller and different color disc thin compared to the one on the right. Maybe that determines the time delay (or lack thereof)

No those blue and yellow disk things are MOV's. That's the "surge arrestor".
streetlight98   [Feb 19, 2014 at 11:43 PM]
Ahh I see. I guess they're shrinking their MOV protection? Neutral i guess the time-delay-determining device is inside the black box with the contacts.

The blue PC has a MOV rated for 190 joule/4500 amp, and the black one has a MOV rated for 320 joule/9500 amp. It's just different options. The blue one is supposed to be basically DTL's version of a "residential grade" PC. So it has cheaper parts in it. I noticed the black box that has the contacts in the blue PC is smaller.

Ahh that's their residential grade PC? Was it cheaper than a standard utility grade one? I wonder how it will perform. Probably will perform just as well since the parts look the same. Just maybe cheaper contacts and less MOV protection.

Yeah these blue ones I ordered are the D7790 series. The part number is D7790. There's no options as far as footcandle setting, cover color, time delay or anything. The catalog page says it's a replacement for many industry standard locking type photocontrols. They don't have these listed on their website but I was informed they do still make them before I ordered them. I haven't gotten updated pricing yet on utility grade DTL's but the price on these blue D7790's is about $1.25 more than they were about 2 years ago.

ahh i see. Interesting how they give you no options with this PC. I'm guessing they're 1.5ftc rated? that seems to be the standard rating though often the ftc rating doesn't really help you tell how sensitive the PC is...

The catalog page says "turn on is 1.5 +/- 0.5 FTC.

ahh so between 1ftc and 2ftc lol.
