New Find!
Found this 400w MH highbay head today for a pretty nice price. It's a new Keene-Widelite head from 2001 used in [url=http://www.canlyte.com/Documents/pdf/CoolBay%20E.pdf]this light.[/url] Anyway, it has a Advance M59/H33 tritap ballast (common in Canada) and a nice Leviton lampholder too. It also came with a cord and mounting hook but I had to open it up to change the tap from 347v to 120v though. I also removed the hook so I can set it upside down as a ballast box.

Now I finally have the correct ballast for my 400w mercs and MH lamps so I can stop running them on the 250w MH ballast. I've also tested all my 400w MV lamps except for the 400w Sylvania BT-37 which is NOS and the 400w Bonusline ED which I accidentally broke a hole in a few days ago. :/ The BT 37 Bonusline is still dead though and it looks like one Westy has some slight dimming and is also slightly greened out.

Thanks! And I guess unpainted high bays are a Canadian thing...I guess you guys don't have unpainted highbays then? Razz

My Lithiona Hi-TeK ones are painted black...but they could use a repainting if I was totally OCD about them and they didn't just sit in a plywood box with other lighting stuff, unused...(too bright for any application I can think of at the moment).
Congrats, you got a 400w MH highbay head! Are you going to try your 400w MV lamps on their proper ballasts?
streetlight98   [Dec 16, 2012 at 02:22 AM]
Nope I've never seen unpainted highbays. They're almost always white here.

I always see white or black ones...
joe_347V   [Dec 16, 2012 at 03:27 AM]
@Mike, hmm the ones with glass or acrylic diffusers usually have painted housings but the ones with just a aluminium reflector are sometimes bare.
streetlight98   [Dec 16, 2012 at 02:01 PM]
Here i very rarely see aluminum reflector highbays. It's normally acrylic and sometimes glass.

Can we see it lit? Very Happy
TiCoune66   [Dec 16, 2012 at 05:16 PM]
'cause in Canada we're too cheap to use paint, heh. Laughing

Laughing I wonder is some fluorescents in Canada were unpainted galvanized steel. Shocked Very Happy now THAT would cool! Or bare aluminum, but fluorescents are normally steel aren't they?

None that I know of Laughing , if I find one I'll post some pics up. Razz

What about the 400w clear BonusLine? Lit pics of those lamps would be interesting...
Congrats on finding this highbay head! Welcome to the highbay head club!
