Underside of the Crimefighter
The refractor is an oddball in the fact that, rather than "STREET SIDE" and "HOUSE SIDE" labels, this has "STREET RIGHT", "ALLEY LEFT", and "ALLEY RIGHT" marked on the rim. Whatever the hell that means lol. So I just stuck the refractor in randomly for the pic. I'm storing the light and refractor separately in the shed. I have yet to clean this light out. Maybe Thursday or Friday...

Sweet, you got yourself a Crimefighter! Wattage/lamp type?

It's a 250W MV remote ballast (so it's essentially a mogul base incandescent fixture ATM). I haven't decided what to install in it yet. Probably 175W MH/MV.

Yeah I was a bit confused at the markings on mine too. My guess is since the refractor was originally developed for the Holophane RSL-2000 which was designed as a alleyway light, street was suppose to face the street and alley left and right faced towards the alley. I guess GE just used the same glass when they designed the Crimefighter. That also might explain why the X pattern on the bottom of the glass dosen't line up with the light. Laughing

Oh yours is crooked like that too? I thought maybe I didn't install it correctly. I just fit it in the quickest way it would fit so I could grab pics before stashing it all in the shed til I have time to clean them. I cleaned the two NEMAs and the M-250R1 today.

Yeah, mine's also crooked like yours and it seems none of the positions will align it with the housing. Anyway mine has the HOLOPHANE text towards the latch, STREET LEFT at the nub on the rim and ALLEY RIGHT towards the ballast.

Hmm interesting. I guess if you want a true alignment you'd need to mount the fixture crooked lol. I'll have to look more closely at the refractor when I clean the crimefighter. That will probably be Thursday or Friday between work and match class.

I wonder if 12" plastic closed botton bucket refractors will fit the Crimefighters, my guess is yes since Icefoglights's has a different style refractor.

Maybe. I could try it sometime. A traffic signal lens might fit too for that sag lens effect. Laughing Might look like a clear MV with a 5000K or 6500K CFL and the green lens. Cool

Yeah, although I don't think they ever made clear 12" traffic lenses. I suppose mine will look pretty odd with a 12" green arrow lens or a walk sign. Laughing

LOL Maybe I'll try it some time. I still need to clean out the Crimefighter and the MO-10 (and the M-250A).
streetlight98   [Aug 03, 2016 at 07:37 PM]
EDIT: Cleaned the M-250A and this light today. All that's left now is the MO-10, which will be a bit of a project. The MO-10 definitely won't be one of the more difficult restorations I've done though. Just need t be rewired and the slipfitter studs need to be replaced with proper stainless ones.
